November 27, 2013Thoughts from Mark
O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His lovingkindness is everlasting! (I Chronicles 16:34)
I am thankful to God. I am even more thankful FOR Him.
He IS good.
Do you know how incredible those three words are? We are the offspring of a thoughtful creator rather than the result of a random, haphazard happenstance. We are children of a loving Father instead of slaves of a distant, emotionless god.
He is worthy of thanksgiving because He delights in being good. Here is goodness – to have this Father send His only son for a family desperately lost without Him. Though man’s thoughts are so often void of the Lord, He never stops thinking about man. Never.
To make it even better, no matter man’s state or heart direction, our Father’s overarching attitude toward us is love. Lovingkindness. An accepting, forgiving, without limits love toward humanity, the whole world.
This lovingkindness is everlasting. It has no beginning or no end. He doesn’t know how to change it. He cannot make it less or increase it. Even His wrath is His kindness, leading us back to the paths of righteousness. Just like Him, His love always was, always is and always will be.
This is why I am thankful FOR Him. He doesn’t have to be this way. This choice – His nature – to be good and kind is worthy of more than thanksgiving. He is worthy of our lives.
Thank you Lord. With all honor, all humility, all awe, I am thankful for WHO you are!
May you see Him. May you see His goodness toward you. And be thankful.
