June 4, 2013Thoughts from Mark
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me (Galatians 2:20)
It is no longer I who live.
Christ lives in me.
The spirit of the Holy One – Jesus unlimited. Jesus not bound by flesh and the demands of this world.
He lives in me.
Trying, striving, working to live like Him is not the way. Allowing Him to live in us, is.
I have been crucified…
The pattern is the cross. Jesus surrendered Himself willingly to wood He spoke into existence.
Surrender is the doorway to Christ in us. It was Paul who said follow (imitate) me as I follow (imitate) Christ. After the art of surrender is mastered, the spirit of Jesus is to take over.
This lifestyle does not mean we no longer think or decide. Christ in us is His Spirit energizing our DNA to perform according to design. It releases the real “us” created to be in full relationship with Him. Our thoughts, our ways, our culture become His.
Here’s an example: Have you ever found it hard to love someone? Maybe someone has “worn out their welcome” or emptied their bank account with you yet continue to demand more. As much as you try, you simply cannot find any more love to give.
Christ in us is an unlimited well. We love because He first loved us. This love is not just directed toward us, it is IN us. An account that never depletes, always replenished as soon as it is drawn on.
Loving from Christ in us makes the most bankrupt of debtors lovable again. In fact, we begin to see them the way He does and our heart swells with compassion as their heart is revealed. Loving becomes not only easy, but necessary.
Man was designed for this way of life. The most peace, fulfillment and impact happens through Christ in us. Trying to be like Him lasts as long as our own personal strength can endure. Then, we crash.
Surrender …. I have been crucified with Christ.
Stop trying …. It’s no longer I that live.
Simply be …. but Christ who lives in me.
