June 27, 2013Thoughts from Mark
Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. – Jesus in John 6
The message and mission of Jesus we see in scripture must be ours.
It is becoming overwhelmingly apparent to me that the burning passion on Jesus’ heart was much greater than salvation. Saving people was part of a much grander motive.
…a son will be given to us – Isaiah the prophet
The most pure definition of the new testament, the reason for Jesus in the flesh, was to declare to the world that we have a Daddy.
God sent deliverers, kings and prophets in the old testament. Those set the stage for a son. A son has only one great motivation. To reveal the heart of his father.
…for the Father Himself loves you because you have loved me – Jesus in John 16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son – Jesus in John 3
We all became so focused on our own skin getting saved from a fiery hell that we missed the greatest message of all time. Every orphan, seeking his own way, protection and fulfillment in this world, has a Daddy who cares more about them than they ever will.
We’re not accidents. We are the designed, artful creation of a loving Father. And that Father wants a relationship with us.
Inherent in that relationship is salvation. Like icing on the cake or presents at Christmas, salvation is a byproduct of the love of our Daddy.
Whether brought up by a great dad or none, this is a revelation for all. The Father Gospel gives a completely new and better understanding of this life.
The salvation gospel leaves us with a pretty shallow and empty life here on earth. We live to get saved and then convince as many others as possible to do the same. After, we enjoy heaven in the life after this one.
The Father Gospel is one of family. Every human placed on this planet for relationship with Him and one another. Every decision, every life choice, every connection is an experience of the heavenly in the right here and now.
When secure in relationship rather than personal protection, you are free to be who you really are. And this is where the radically faithful get exposed. They are sons and daughters who realize earth and this life is a playground provided by their heavenly Father.
Awake to the real reason for your existence. You have a Dad who thought about you and wanted you to exist as His child.
Live like you have a Daddy.
